- Vitamin C relieves symptoms and health problems associated with heat stress. 

- Magnesium blood concentration has been found to be decreased in heat-stressed hens. 

- Extra magnesium is then needed for normal energy metabolism and prevention of weight loss. 

- During heat stress, sodium and potassium are decreased, which results in a disrupted acid-base balance. 

- Supplementing feed or water with different electrolytes salts (containing potassium, calcium, chloride and sodium) repairs this balance.
